Thanks for sweet memories!
LEADers jumped for joy when they arrived at camp in Livingston, TX. Each day was filled with great adventures; rock climbing, fishing, archery, Cabin Olympics, discovery, team building, and play aligned with our lessons of Setting Expectations, Perseverance, and Presenting Yourself.
The purpose of Camp LEAD is to allow LEADers to practice vision, empathy, and tenacity. We encouraged them to build strong and meaningful relationships.
"Connecting with the cabin was very special; we started as strangers on the first night and by the last one we were laughing uncontrollably and super happy." -- Camp Counselor
Already, it is evident that the communication skills built during camp continue to strengthen.
"[My daughter and I] are still bonding well since camp. Thanks again!" -LEAD Parent
A few outstanding LEADers were chosen and honored by their peers and Camp Counselors for exuding Vision, Empathy, Tenacity, and LEADership during our closing ceremony.
After wrapping up at camp and returning home, each LEADer received a summer reading book, Harbor Me by Jaqueline Woodson.
We look forward to sharing more sweet memories from camp and providing updates about the impact of this adventure. While we had great fun, we continue to study the effectiveness of our program through research conducted by University of Houston, surveys, and focus groups.
You made these memorable moments possible. THANK YOU!
Together, we prepare youth for success by providing life skills and exposure to new opportunities.
Truly,
The LEAD Team
