LEADers gathered on Saturday to share their values. Small groups, led by passionate volunteers, engaged students and discussed meaningful questions, including:

  • How do you show respect in your home?
  • What characteristics and values are important in your family?
  • What values do you want to be a part of your legacy?

Practicing kindness and showing appreciation were popular responses that we encourage youth to apply daily at home, in school, and beyond.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, LEADers danced and ate well. The talented Emilie Lynn Cruz taught us four basic steps of Salsa, a beautiful Cuban dance. The graceful and encouraging instructor enhanced our learning and taught LEADers how to add right and left turns to their new moves.

Afterwards, Latino Bites Express provided delicious food for us to enjoy; mofongo balls from Puerto Rico, tequenos and arepas from Venezuela, and delicious empanadas.
